Utilizing Blogs in the Classroom

A blog  is a frequently updated online personal journal or diary (Richard 2010). It is a place to express yourself and it’s a place where one going to update on a regular basis. A place to share your thoughts creativity and your passions. A blog would serve an excellent purpose in the classroom. It can help with writing and reading skills. It’s the use of technology and what better way to show case their ability for diverse learners. I have some students that come to my class that never speaks due to them being shy or bashful. Blogging would allow these students to have a voice and learn communication skills. I am an elementary school Art teacher. I would use blogging as a way to keep the lines of communication open between parents and myself. I would also use blogging as an instructional tool to aid in effective communication and even a way to informally assess students. Constructivist Learning Theory, Teaching, and Learning

Many learning theories can be used to integrate technology more effectively in today’s schools. Technology has changed the way we teach and the way we learn, there is a very close relationship between technology, constructivism and instructional strategies that I must consider when I am teaching, the implementation of each benefits the other. As an educator using these strategies will help with learning in the 21st-century classroom. My scholarly source states that constructivism suggests that learners construct knowledge out of their experiences ( Naylor & Keogh, 1999). In other words, learning happens in context and students create much of what they understand and learn as a function of their experiences. (Orey 2015) stated that students learning is an active process in which they use their sensory input to construct meaning out of information given. Hello everyone, This is my first time blogging, My name is Aaron Gardener and I am a Jamaican who is living and working in the US on a work exchange program. I currently work in an elementary school as an Art Teacher. I have been in the education field for over 15 years. I have teaching experience in Jamaica and Turks and Caicos Island.
